Roles of the Dean
1. Educator - I will teach lessons using the TEA State Plan for Guidance. There are three areas of emphasis: personal/social, academic, and career.
2. Crisis Counselor - I will serve students, families, and faculty members with critical issues that may arise unexpectedly.
3. Small Group Advising - I will conduct group talks as arise on various topics (i.e. managing emotions, responsibility, bullying, divorce recovery, suicide and death of a loved one).
4. Careers - I will help to prepare students to a pathway to the world and help them develop skills that will prepare them for their transition into high school and ultimately a workplace.
The Dean helps students to:
- Gain self-awareness
- Learn ways to resolve conflicts
- Learn to accept responsibility
- Learn to accept others’ differences
- Analyze personal interest and skills
- Make appropriate choices
- Acquire test-taking skills
